March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month (PGAM)
Problem Gambling Awareness Month is a nationwide grassroots campaign, held annually in March, that seeks to increase public awareness of problem gambling and promote prevention, treatment, and recovery services.
PGAM Goals
- To increase public awareness of problem gambling and the availability of prevention, treatment and recovery services.
- To encourage healthcare providers to screen clients for problem gambling.
Gambling Disorder Screening Day – March 12th, 2024
To make screening for gambling disorder easier and more effective, NCPG has partnered with the Cambridge Health Alliance Division on Addiction, which has developed a free Gambling Disorder Screening Day Toolkit.
The WCPG has received a Proclamation for Problem Gambling Awareness Month from Governor Evers.
During March, Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling has planned a series of impactful events and initiatives aimed at educating the public and fostering conversations about problem gambling. These events will include its 25th Annual Conference, a Webinar: The Legalities of Gambling: From Legalization to Consequences and a packet (poster, letter, and problem gambling literature) mail to over 600 legal/law enforcement departments.
